ASUU Decries Unpaid 2022 Salaries and Grants Approval for Industrial Action Across Multiple Universities

CampusWatch Network
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has criticized the Federal Government over the non-payment of the balance of lecturers' withheld salaries from the 2022 nationwide strike and delays in wage awards and promotion arrears. Led by National President Prof. Chris Piwuna, ASUU announced that its National Executive Council has granted affected state and federal universities permission to embark on industrial action to press home their demands. Institutions specifically facing authorization for strikes or addressing ongoing grievances include Plateau State University, Nasarawa State University, Gombe State University, Abia State University, and Kaduna State University. The union warned that haphazard implementation of agreements and funding challenges risk causing renewed campus unrest and disrupting academic activities for students.
