OSOGBO, Osun State – The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has lauded the Osun State Government for its commitment to student inclusiveness following the recent appointment of key student leadership into governance roles.
In a press release issued on May 17th, 2026, signed by the General Secretary, Comrade Ojetola Babatunde Y., the association specifically praised the appointment of the NANS Southwest Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (popularly known as BILLIONCODES).
Comrade Kayode was recently named the Director of Campus Affairs under the Imole Youth Campaign Team, an initiative of the Osun State Ministry of Youth Affairs under the administration of Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke.
NANS Southwest described the appointment as a “progressive step” that transcends individual recognition. The body noted that the move signals the government’s acknowledgment of students as vital stakeholders in governance, policy formulation, and societal progress.
“NANS Southwest views this development not merely as an appointment of an individual, but as a recognition of the relevance of students… as active contributors whose voices and ideas remain essential in shaping policies,” the statement read.
While maintaining its stance as an independent and non-partisan organization, NANS used the opportunity to send a clear message to other states within the Southwest region. The student body urged other governors to emulate the “Osun Model” by creating genuine spaces for competent youths and student representatives in their respective administrations.
The association argued that at a time when graduates face rising unemployment and economic hardship, the deliberate inclusion of vibrant student leaders in public service is necessary for sustainable national growth.
The leadership congratulated Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, noting that his years of activism and dedication to student welfare make him fit for the role. They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting responsible leadership and youth empowerment across the region.
The statement concluded by thanking the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Governor Adeleke for identifying the capacity of student leaders to contribute meaningfully to civic engagement and leadership development.
